Press Conferences – GW09

Arsenal

Ruled out: Granit Xhaka (knee).
Might play: Bukayo Saka.

He hasn’t trained yet, we have to assess him today and see how he is. It’s down to the doctors and himself to see how he recovers and how he is feeling between today and tomorrow.
~ Mikel Arteta on (Saka)

Aston Villa

Ruled out: Trezeguet (knee).
Might play: Keinan Davis (match fitness).
Fit: Leon Bailey, Bertrand Traore and Matty Cash.

Bertrand (Traore) and Leon (Bailey) have come back from 4/5 weeks out, so we’re building up their fitness. They’ll be in the squad but I’ll have to assess where they are. They’ve both got a chance.
~ Dean Smith on

Brentford

Ruled out: Mads Bech Sorensen (knee), Josh Dasilva (hip), Shandon Baptiste (shoulder) and Yoane Wissa (ankle).
Might play: Vitaly Janelt.

Yoane Wissa will be out for a few more weeks with an ankle injury. The others are closer and will be assessed before the game.
~ Thomas Frank

Brighton

Ruled out: Danny Welbeck (thigh) and Steven Alzate (ankle).
Might play: Adam Webster (thigh).
Fit: Yves Bissouma.

Adam (Webster) has been training this week, he’s had a good week. There’s an outside chance he’ll be available.
~ Graham Potter

Burnley

Ruled out: Dale Stephens (ankle).
Might play: Matej Vydra (back), Charlie Taylor (minor knock) and Ben Mee (Covid).

We are going to have to make a decision on all three of them (Vydra, Taylor and Mee) because they are close. It is a three-game week so we will have to make a decision on them. We are hopeful on those three but we will have to make a call on it tomorrow.
~ Sean Dyche

Chelsea

Ruled out: Romelu Lukaku (ankle), Christian Pulisic (ankle) and Timo Werner (thigh).

No big news for Romelu (Lukaku) and Timo (Werner), the thing I can say is that they are out for tomorrow, they will be out for the Soton game. Then we will see what’s next, I don’t think that it makes any sense to go into speculation about how long.
~ Thomas Tuchel

Crystal Palace

Ruled out: Eberechi Eze (achilles) and Nathan Ferguson (Achilles).
Fit: Wilfried Zaha.

Wilf (Zaha) is good – he started training with the team a couple of days ago. He will be in the squad tomorrow. We are looking good.
~ Rafa Benitez

Everton

Ruled out: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (thigh), Abdoulaye Doucoure (foot), Fabian Delph (shoulder), Andre Gomes (calf) and Yerry Mina (hamstring).
Fit: Richarlison.

How long he will be out, we need to see. It depends on how he reacts to the treatment. We will not see him for four or five weeks, could be?.
~ Rafa Benitez on (Calvert-Lewin)

Leeds Utd

Ruled out: Patrick Bamford (ankle), Robin Koch (pelvic), Luke Ayling (knee), Kalvin Phillips (calf) and Junior Firpo (muscle).
Might play: Raphinha.

Ayling and Bamford are not going to be here for the next two games. Raphinha has acclimatised back to his return to England. Koch still has at least one month to go. Kalvin [Phillips] is healthy but he hasn’t competed for three weeks, if he played on Saturday it would be far too quick.
~ Marcelo Bielsa

Leicester

Ruled out: James Justin (knee), Wesley Fofana (leg), Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) and Marc Albrighton (knock).
Might play: Timothy Castagne (hamstring), Ayoze Perez (illness), Youri Tielemans (back) and Jonny Evans (back).

He had a spasm towards his lower back. He looks fine. He’s on a recovery work today with the medical team, but he looks fine.
~ Brendan Rodgers (Tielemans)

Liverpool

Ruled out: Thiago Alcantara (calf) and Harvey Elliott (ankle)
Fit: Curtis Jones (hip).

Curtis (Jones) will train today with us completely, he did already parts of training before we went to Atletico. He should be in contention. Thiago, not, he is not in team training yet, will not be this week for sure.
~ Jurgen Klopp

Man City

Ruled out: Ferran Torres (foot).

The team is in really good condition.
~ Pep Guardiola

Man Utd

Ruled out: Raphael Varane (groin) and Amad Diallo (thigh).
Might play: Bruno Fernandes (knock), Anthony Martial (knock), Fred (hamstring) and Marcus Rashford (dead leg).

Games like Wednesday night will always bring knocks and bruises. Bruno (Fernandes) might be a doubt but he’s doing everything he can to be fit. I’m not going to rule anyone out from Sunday but I’m not sure if everyone’s going to be fit.
~ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Newcastle

Ruled out: Martin Dubravka (foot), Paul Dummett (calf) and Jonjo Shelvey (suspended).

Norwich

Ruled out: Christoph Zimmermann (ankle), Todd Cantwell (lack of match fitness) and Billy Gilmour (ineligible to face parent club).

I can confirm he needs ankle surgery that will take place on Monday coming and think he will be out for 6 weeks or so.
~ Daniel Farke on (Zimmermann)

Southampton

Ruled out: James Ward-Prowse (suspended) and Jack Stephens (knee).
Fit: Che Adams.

There’s still Jack (Stephens) missing. Che (Adams) is back in training and is available for the weekend. There are no injuries there otherwise, so I can pick from a big squad.
~ Ralph Hassenhuttl

Spurs

Ruled out: Ryan Sessegnon (knock) and Matt Doherty (knock)
Fit: Steven Bergwijn and Ben Davies.

Watford

Ruled out: Peter Etebo (thigh), Francisco Sierralta (hamstring) and Christian Kabasele (hamstring).
