Press Conferences – GW08

Arsenal

Ruled out: Granit Xhaka (knee).
Might play: Gabriel Martinelli (minor knock).

Unfortunately, he got injured last week. It’s a minor injury, we don’t know if he’s going to be available for Monday.
~ Mikel Arteta on (Gabriel)

Aston Villa

Ruled out: Leon Bailey (thigh), Morgan Sanson (thigh), Trézéguet (knee) and Keinan Davis (knee).
Might play: Emiliano Martinez (international duty), Douglas Luiz (international duty) and Bertrand Traore (thigh).

Unfortunately, Leon (Bailey) hasn’t ticked all the boxes for the medical department, we are hopeful that he will be back in training after the Wolves game.
~ Dean Smith on (Bailey)

Brentford

Ruled out: Bech Sorensen (knee) and Da Silva (hip) and Shandon Baptiste (shoulder).
Fit: Kristoffer Ajer and Vitaly Janelt.

All the internationals came back well which is good. You always check the line-ups and cross your fingers that everyone comes back in one piece so that is extremely positive. Shandon Baptiste dislocated his shoulder [against West Ham] and is out. Kristoffer Ajer and Vitaly Janelt should be available.
~ Thomas Frank

Brighton

Ruled out: Danny Welbeck (thigh) and Steven Alzate (ankle).
Might play: Enock Mwepu (groin), Yves Bissouma (knee) and Adam Webster (thigh).

He’s been training well, he’s chomping to get back on the pitch. We’ve just got to find the right moment for him, the team’s been doing well. We need to be careful with him but at the same time, he’s been training and is ready to help us.
~ Graham Potter on (Lamptey)

Burnley

Ruled out: Ben Mee (Covid) and Dale Stephens (ankle).
Might play: Matej Vydra (minor knock), Charlie Taylor (minor knock), Johann Berg Gudmundsson (muscle) and Connor Roberts (thigh).
Fit: Maxwell Cornet.

The only one we’ve got missing, not because of injury but because of Covid, unfortunately, is Ben Mee. He’s fine but he’s tested positive so he has to go through the protocols before he comes back in.
~ Sean Dyche

Chelsea

Ruled out: Antonio Rudiger (back), Christian Pulisic (ankle) and Thiago Silva (international duty).
Might play: Hakim Ziyech (headache).
Fit: Romelu Lukaku, Reece James and N’Golo Kante.

Antonio Rudiger came back injured from the national team, he is also not available. Thiago Silva played 90 minutes, he has 12 hours of travelling. That gives the answer maybe about his availability – he is not.
~ Thomas Tuchel

Crystal Palace

Ruled out: Eberechi Eze (achilles) and Nathan Ferguson (Achilles).

Everton

Ruled out: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (thigh), Richarlison (knee), Fabian Delph (shoulder) and Andre Gomes (calf).
Might play: Alex Iwobi (minor issue), Yerry Mina (international duty) and Seamus Coleman (hamstring).
Fit: Lucas Digne.

The international break is an opportunity to bring back players. Alex Iwobi was training and so were Digne and Coleman – that is good news for us – they have started training with the team.
~ Rafa Benitez

Leeds Utd

Ruled out: Patrick Bamford (ankle), Robin Koch (pelvic) and Luke Ayling (knee).
Might play: Raphinha (international duty) and Kalvin Phillips (calf)

The options that he has to participate in the game on Saturday depends on whether he plays this final [Brazil] game tonight, how many minutes he plays, how he finishes the game after he has participated in it, how efficient the rest he can have in the next 36 hours is considering that a third of those will be spent flying, and if there’s any risk that the fatigue could cause injuries, then we won’t risk him. There are so many aspects to consider that I can’t offer you any certainties either way.
~ Marcelo Bielsa on (Raphinha)

Leicester

Ruled out: James Justin (knee), Wesley Fofana (leg) and Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring).
Might play: Jonny Evans (foot) and Jannik Vestergaard (knock).

We’ve had a plan for him (Evans) this week. Unfortunately, it meant he wasn’t able to go away with his international team, but there was a plan to try and allow him to arrive into the game tomorrow. Hopefully, all being well, after the session today, it looks like there’s no other effects.
~ Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool

Ruled out: Fabinho (international duty), Alisson (international duty), Thiago Alcantara (calf), Harvey Elliott (ankle) and Curtis Jones (hip).
Fit: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota.

The decision we made is: the boys will not be here. They will go directly to Madrid [for Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League tie].
~ Jurgen Klopp on (Fabinho and Alisson)

Man City

Ruled out: Ferran Torres (foot), Gabriel Jesus (international duty) and Ederson (international duty).
Fit: Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ilkay Gundogan.

Ferran (Torres) will be out two-and-a-half months to three months. Bone metatarsal. Zinchenko is back, Gundogan is back. The rest are okay.
~ Pep Guardiola

Man Utd

Ruled out: Raphael Varane (groin), Edinson Cavani (international duty), Fred (international duty) and Amad Diallo (thigh).
Might play: Marcus Rashford (shoulder) and Harry Maguire (calf).

With regards to Fred and Edinson, they played a full game this morning, half 1 it kicked off, so of course we’re not counting on them. We’ve got to give them the time to rest and recover.
~ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Newcastle

Ruled out: Martin Dubravka (foot) and Paul Dummett (calf).
Fit: Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles and Jonjo Shelvey.

Norwich

Ruled out: Christoph Zimmermann (ankle) and Sam Byram (thigh).

Todd (Cantwell) is back in team training. All the players from internationals came back in a good mood. Milot (Rashica) was struggling with some knee problems but that all seems to be okay, and they seem to be all available.
~ Daniel Farke

Southampton

Ruled out: James Ward-Prowse (suspended), Che Adams (muscle) and Jack Stephens (knee).

We had Che (Adams) return from the internationals with a muscle injury – not too serious, but for this game on the weekend he is definitely out.
~ Ralph Hassenhuttl on (Adams)

Spurs

Ruled out: Ryan Sessegnon (knock).
Might play: Giovani Lo Celso (international duty), Cristian Romero (international duty), Emerson Royal (international duty), Davinson Sanchez (international duty), Steven Bergwijn (ankle), Ben Davies (abdominal) and Matt Doherty (knock).

They are flying now. They are joining us tomorrow, and that will be the right moment to see how they are. The news we have is that they all finished the matches well, so it’s about recovering and then, together, we have to assess them and then decide.
~ Nuno Espirito Santo

Watford

Ruled out: Peter Etebo (thigh), Francisco Sierralta (hamstring), Christian Kabasele (hamstring) and Nicolas Nkoulou (match fitness).
Might play: Joshua King (knee).

West Ham

Might play: Ryan Fredericks (groin) and Vladimir Coufal (groin).

(We’re probably like everybody else. We’ve probably got one or two injuries, one or two people coming back from international duty that we’re having to look after. If I did have [any confirmed players missing], I probably wouldn’t tell you anyway! We might have some people who are not available.
~ David Moyes

Wolves

Ruled out: Francisco Trincao (Covid-19), Yerson Mosquera (thigh), Jonny (knee) and Pedro Neto (knee).
